WTCSD Staff Positions
Position Title: Programs and Marketing Manager
Department: Programs & Marketing
Reports To: Executive Vice President
Manages: Two – Five Interns
Type: Full-time
SUMMARY: This important, highly visible position is responsible for
planning, coordinating and executing a wide variety of programs, projects, and
communications for the WORLD TRADE CENTER San Diego (WTCSD), with a focus on
quality programs, increasing visibility of WTCSD and its mission, revenue
generation and meeting member/stakeholder needs.
KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. PROGRAMS: Plan,
organize, budget, promote and execute WORLD TRADE CENTER San Diego programs and events
- Programs development & marketing
- Strategically plan/implement calendar of events, timeline and
program budgets
- Research and invite potential event speakers
- Research and contract venues, caterers, etc. for events
- Set-up and manage marketing software and registration process
- Design marketing plan and marketing pieces for all programs
- Create value-added benefits related to programs for Sponsors and
Members
- Monitor and
manage deliverables for Sponsors
and Members as related to programs and marketing
- Distribute marketing materials
- Invite elected officials and media
- Manage and monitor department inventory
- Oversee complete on-site event management; including
- Manage registration table at WTCSD events
- Set up and break down events (which may include setting up tables and chairs, AV and parking
signs, working with presenters to set up ppt, etc.)
- Supervise volunteers and WTCSD interns for event logistics,
marketing and administrative support
- Produce event agenda and content
- Manage time and flow of program

MARKETING: Develop and execute
marketing, communications and public relations plans to increase WTCSD
visibility and event participation by disseminating timely, relevant
information to/about key stakeholders.
- Work to
increase awareness of WTCSD in the community, nationally and
internationally
- Assist
Business Development Director with internal and external promotion of
member benefits and the associated deliverables to members, including
invitations to events, and visibility for members/sponsors on event
marketing materials, newsletters etc.
- In-person
outreach to elected officials and targeted groups (with CEO &
Director of Business Development)
- Member and
sponsor promotions
- Develop and execute
media plan to maximize opportunities in all forms of media
- Press releases: Write, edit
and distribute Press Releases highlighting WTCSD
news/initiatives, advocacy and programs
- Monitor
homepage including the blog, upcoming events, news and flash panel
- Create and
update events on Web site
- Create and
update member/community events on Web site
- Develop and execute
comprehensive e-mail marketing campaign
- Manage and segment database
for targeted campaigns
- Design marketing pieces for
electronic distribution
- E-Newsletter ‘The Trader’:
- Prepare content, edit and
distribute WTCSD monthly on-line newsletter
- Highlight new/ renewing
members, upcoming programs/events and hot-topic
article

MISCELLANEOUS DUTIES:
- Develop and build on stakeholder relationships
- Meet weekly with Staff to share initiatives and solicit support
- Report monthly
to the board
- Manage department’s interns
- Additional projects as they are developed
REQUIREMENTS:
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Event planning experience a MUST.
- Marketing and promotional experience necessary.
- Understanding of e-mail and online marketing strategy and tactics.
- Strong computer skills: Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, CRM
or CMS. Must have working knowledge of
graphic design programs such as Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop and PageMaker.
- Must possess excellent written and oral communications skills.
- Team player who is comfortable interacting internally and externally with
professionals at all levels.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and independently. Attention to detail a must.
- Understanding of international trade a plus.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Fluency in English required. Fluency in additional foreign language a plus
but not required.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES AND REGISTRATIONS:
Legal Right to work in the United States. Valid automobile driver’s license.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Ability to speak English. Ability to
write and type correspondence using a computer. Ability to accompany business
delegates on tours of San Diego companies and region.
